Installing DVD drive

After enjoying a completely silent PC for about 3 weeks I decided to add an optical drive for a convenience. These days the price for a CD-RW/DVD combo drive is not much different from a DVD burner, so I purchased a NEC DVD±R burner AD-5540A. The drive is very silent. The case set provides an adapter allowing to attach a standard 40-conductors cable and a Molex power connector to the drive. Here are the drives and their connectors.

The DVD drive is fixed with two bolts with the chassis, here is a view of the drives' panel.

Since the case fan is turned off now, there is no need to take care of the air tunnel anymore. However, a careful layout of wires for a decent passive ventilation is still not a bad idea.

This is a view of the other side of the case with the supplied short DVD drive cable connecting it to the motherboard. CD/DVD drives only support UltraDMA-33 interface, so there is no need in an 80-conductor cable.

Here is a top view of the fully assembled PC. There is still room for one extension card.
